"Training"

Staff who are starting a career in care are required to complete the structured induction process. The completion of the12 week Common Induction Standards is the first step along a pathway that continues all through the staff members career.

Successful completion of induction helps staff to meet the General Social Care Council's Code of practice. This code reflects existing good practice and must be met by all workers.

"Specific Tasks"

Further learning, to perform specific tasks safely, continues and includes:

Handling medication

Use of moving & handling equipment

Feeding & food hygiene

Pressure area care

Care of colostomy

Catheter care

PEG feeding

Tracheotomy care

Neurological conditions

 

"NVQ's in Care"

Flexible NVQ's levels 2, 3 & 4 are offered in line with CSCI requirements

 

"Continuing Professional Development"

Further training is discussed with each staff member and an individual training programme agreed to maintain up to date skills and to insure that staff are working in accordance with current best practice.
